GUIDING PRINCIPLES

RESPONSIBLITY

Since the brands inception we have considered our impact on the climate, and the people who make our clothes. By exercising respect for our environment and production partners, we believe we can be a more conscious business. Whether this is through our carbon positive workforce, reforestation programs or collaboration with suppliers that champion women’s empowerment, we strive to respect our planet and community.

CIRCULARITY

We believe in protecting our natural world as best we can, to do this we need to take ownership of the entire lifecycle of the garments we produce. Put simply, we are responsible for the products we produce its creation and end use. We have embraced circular design principles - with an emphasis on recyclability, low impact practices and utilising regenerative organic and recycled materials - making steps towards a more circular future.

ARTISANAL

An integral part of out the brand is celebrating old world craftsmanship & artisans. Each collection we partner with artisans and embrace traditional techniques that have been passed from one artist to the next, over many generations. We are proud of our work with a diverse range of highly skilled crafts people from India, China and Africa.

Throughout all aspects of the business, we continue to improve to create collections that supports artisanal communities, as well as ensuring our climate, planet and producers are at the forefront of every decision.

OUR FOREST PROJECT

We recognise that our wonderful planet needs a helping hand and with your support we plant a tree with every garment sold. Trees are one of the best tools we have in removing carbon pollution from our atmosphere.

ECOLOGI REFORESTATION PROJECT

Alémais has funded the planting of 600,006 and counting. Healthy trees sequester CO2, making them climate champions from the moment they’re planted. They also help to restore healthy ecosystems, sequestering and storing even more carbon in soils and plant biomass, as well as boosting biodiversity.

Reforestation projects provide co-benefits for local people which can promote employment, gender equality, new income streams and improved community facilities.

OUR FOREST POLICY

Alémais is committed to protecting the world’s forests through our approach to procurement of pulp, paper, packaging and fabrics.

We recognise that trees are one of the best tools we have in removing carbon pollution from our atmosphere, as well as providing a myriad of benefits to our ecosystem. As substitutions for single use plastics are sought out it is recognized that the environmental issues arising with an increase in demand for forest-based products as a substitute must be addressed. Alongside our current responsible sourcing of wood pulp products and investing in reforestation projects, this policy considers the pressing need for conservation of Ancient and Endangered Forests.

Alémais supports approaches and systems to build a future that does not use Ancient and Endangered Forests in the packaging, paper or in man-made cellulosic fabrics, including rayon, viscose, lyocell, modal and other trademarked brands. We will influence these supply chains in order to protect the world’s remaining Ancient and Endangered Forests and endangered species habitat.
